The idea behind it
What happens beneath the flow?
Discover how the feet and hands create stability, how the core supports movement, and how bandhas can be understood as function rather than simply a cue.
Learn to build sequences with intention, responsive to the body, the breath, the pace and the purpose of the practice. From the mechanics of movement to the meditative rhythm of Vinyasa, this is an invitation to understand the practice from the inside out.
Over three days we look at what is actually happening in a body moving through Vinyasa. You leave with a working model of the moving body and a class or two of your own, built and taught over the weekend.

The programme
What we cover
01
The ground
Stability starts at the point of contact. Pāda bandha, hasta bandha, and what comes back up through the body when the feet and hands press into the earth. Why the same instruction lands differently in different bodies, and what to look for instead of a fixed alignment.
02
The core
Mūla bandha and uḍḍīyāna bandha as function rather than as a cue you say and hope for. Diaphragm, pelvic floor and deep abdominals as one system, with the breath running it. What the core is doing in a chaturanga, a step-through, a standing balance, the return from a backbend. Sthira and sukha in practice: enough tension to be stable, not so much that the breath stops.
03
The moving body
A Sun Salutation taken apart and put back together. How joints load and unload through transitions. Where injuries actually happen in flow classes and why. Teaching from function rather than from shape.
04
Sequencing
A choreographed flow and an anatomy-based flow are built from different logic, and both have their place. We take apart the inputs, pace, load, breath ratio, hold time, repetition, heat, and follow them through to what comes out the other end. So you can build a slow class or a fast one on purpose, from a function or an intention rather than a list of poses you happen to like.
05
Purpose and energetics
Why flow at all. The breath as the thread through the class, rhythm and repetition as a way into Dhāraṇā, movement as meditation. How to carry the spiritual quality of the practice in plain language, without diluting it and without dressing it up.
06
Practicum
Running through all three days. Each person builds and teaches segments, in small groups, getting feedback, and the chance to refine things with support.

Frequently asked questions
Questions people ask us
Do I need to be a qualified teacher?
The module is designed for teachers who have completed a 200hr training from any school, current Kindred trainees, and experienced practitioners ready to go deeper. Not sure if that's you? Get in touch and we can talk about whether it's a fit.
Does this count toward certification?
Yes. The module is twenty five contact hours, counted toward Yoga Alliance continuing education, YNZ professional development, and Kindred Level 2 on the 300hr pathway.
How much teaching will I do?
The practicum runs through all three days. Each person builds and teaches at least one segment, gets feedback, and refines it. You will practise flows in smaller groups rather than teaching a whole class. The final session on Sunday is taught by you.
What do I need to prepare?
Bring your mat and a notebook. You don't need a class you already teach, but it's great to arrive with some ideas of poses or flows you want to explore.
What if I have an injury or health condition?
Everyone comes with a different body, history and set of circumstances, and where appropriate the practice can be adapted. If you have an injury or condition that may affect your participation, please get in touch before booking so we can discuss your circumstances. We ask that you also take responsibility for your own wellbeing and continue to follow the advice of your health practitioner.
