Awakening Women is the opportunity to gather to unleash your spirit and dance to the sacred rhythm of life.

Join DJ Vonnie (-otherwise known to the Kindred family as Yvonne or Yun) -to celebrate and move your energy. Every day, you defy gravity by simply ‘being alive’. You are the sense of balance and quality to our world.

This is a practice that shows you that You Are the Medicine.

We do not need drugs or alcohol to have this ecstatic experience.

Simply by raising our heart rate, and moving in connection with our community, then dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin are naturally released and we are given a natural high. Bring dance back into your everyday life, by having fun and using music that makes you want to get down and express your primal urges in healthy ways. Perhaps, crying to release emotion from your tissues ...or sweating away your prayers? It is our oldest religion to dance in community in wild abandon, connect where our ancestors dwell and connect with our spirit. Our inner child needs regular attention and expression to maintain all parts of our health. This is only way we can become radiant and expressive in all we are.

In our community, I’m known as a guardian and advocate for the He’art’ relationship with our preschool tamariki and whānau. However, I’m now excited to share another (new) role. I recently returned from Bali (July 2024) where I completed the 5 Element Ecstatic Dance (EED) DJ and Facilitator journey with Malaika Ma Veena Darville and DJ Wild Honey. And now, DJ Vonnie is Born! Wahoo! I felt called to become a medicine women to offer diverse world sounds, from African to Jungle to Eastern that invites you on your journey to explore what this authentically means for you through dance, awareness and movement. For me, it is a primal feeling of returning, back into my heart and home. I believe, without this relationship with ourselves, we cannot blossom into the He’art’ of relationship. So, my gift to you, is taking you on your journey into the He’art’, so that you too, may return home.
